Sub-Area 2 Meeting at St. Dorothy's Catholic Church

We, at the Chatham Avalon Park Community Council, were present for a Sub-Area 2 Meeting at St. Dorothy's Catholic Church where crime and financial stability and sustainability and economic development for the community took precedence. Money Matters with Armand McCarroll started the meeting agenda with a discussion about the differences and values of term and whole life insurance and the opportunity insurance presents for guarantee income during retirement for the living and protection from bankruptcy of heirs. Youth Intervention Services included Renee Garner from the St. Dorothy's Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts and Cheryl Walls from South Central Community Services discussing the role community-based social network and support organizations and operations at the pre-teen and teen aged level help prevent a pathway to criminal activity on the part of local youth. The Chicago Urban League's Quin Riley discussed the pitfalls of "millionaire athlete and entertainer Chapter 13 bankruptcy" and a new focus on "fill the unmet need" Entrepreneurship. CHAC Odessa Stribling stated that of the roughly 1400 Section 8 families now settled in Chatham by CHA relocation programs, that there were problems with assimilation and crime.
