Community Service Area Update:

 

The Chatham Avalon Park Community Council hosted

the September 2013, General monthly meeting at Urban

Partnership Bank, 7801 South State Street, Chicago, Illinois

60619 from 6:30 pm until 8:00pm.

DEFINITION OF BULLYING: 1. It is aggressive behavior

or intentional harm doing;  2. It is carried out repeatedly

and over time; and 3. It occurs within an interpersonal

relationship characterized by an imbalance of power.

 

Nationally about 160, 000 children miss school every day

out of fear of being bullied.

Capcc hosted a “ Block by Block” Boot Camp on

Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Whitney Young

Library, 7901 South King Drive from 11 am until

1pm. Guest Speaker: Ms. Helena Haley, President

75th, 76th, 77, &78th & Wabash Block Club.

 

Capcc Health & Wellness Chairman hosted “Your

Health Matters” a conversation on: Health & Wellness

Obama Care and other health tips on Wednesday,

September 11, 2013 at Urban Partnership Bank,

7801 South State Street, Chicago, Illinois 60619

from 6pm until 8pm.

 

 Vice President Candace Calhoun Watkins hosted a

 Sub-Area III Meeting on Wednesday, August 28, 2013

 at Chatham Fields Lutheran Church, 8050 South

 St. Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60619 from 6pm

 Until 8pm. Guest Speakers were: Ms. Kitty Edwards,

 Grand Crossing Post Office Manager and Ms. Beverly

 Taylor-Williams, 6th District Police Department.

 

 A Special Use Permit (Variance) was approved for

 Geez Auto Repair on 81st & Cottage Grove by the

 Sub-Area III residents in attendance.

 

On Saturday, August 31, 2013 Capcc Block Club Presidents

and Representatives & State Representative Elgie R.

Sims at 11 am until 1pm engaged in a Quality of Life

Conversation regarding the following Core Issues:

* Education

*Health & Wellness

*Employment Opportunities

*Public Safety

 *Racial Relations

 *Housing

 *Economic Development

 

 We greatly appreciate State Representative Sims

 taking the time to address & entertain our core issues

 and quality of life concerns and explained his action

 plan for resolving them.

at the CAPCC Jazzin Fundraiser. The Charles Heath  Jazz

For Youth & Veterans) on 82nd & King Drive on the CAPCC lots.
