Thursday, April 24th Join workers across the Supply chain

Hello friends,

This Thursday 4/24 at 11 a.m. join Warehouse Workers for Justice, Chicago Jobs with Justice, OUR Walmart and others on the one year anniversary of the #RanaPlaza disaster in Bangladesh to draw attention to Walmart’s unacceptable response to building and fire safety concerns from Asia to Chicago.

Thursday, April 24th, 11:00 am
Walmart neighborhood market at 2844 N Broadway, Chicago

Bring a fire extinguisher if you have one!

For info call Ada Fuentes at adaf@jwj.org

Background:

Walmart continues to turn a blind eye to dangerous conditions in their supply chain, failing to pay adequate compensation to the families of the thousands of workers who were injured in the #RanaPlaza building collapse on April 24, 2013, and to the 112 workers killed in the Tazreen fire of November 24, 2012.

Here in our area, Walmart has retaliated against workers from the Walmart consolidation center in Hammond, IN for protesting the lack of a fire alarm system, bad brakes on forklifts, frostbite and other injuries and propane powered forklifts catching fire.

Call on Walmart to #PayUp full and fair compensation, sign the Bangladesh Safety Accord to help prevent future tragedies and immediately address fire safety in the Walmart Hammond warehouse.
