They're trying to silence your voice & your vote

Dear Supporter,
The final critical deadline is just days away. This Thursday, May 1st is the last day for Springfield politicians to put the Fair Tax on the ballot - so we, the voters of Illinois, can decide in November.
x
Right now – this very moment – is the time for legislators to hear one final and resounding message from every single one of us: Whatever their position, this is an issue that ‘We the People’ should decide.

The proposed Fair Tax - with lower rates for lower incomes and higher rates for higher incomes - would provide a tax cut for 94% of Illinoisans, while protecting investments in vital services from draconian cuts. Hundreds of thousands of citizens from all corners of Illinois, Democrats and Republicans alike, have voiced support and taken action to move this critical issue forward.

On Thursday, the Chicago Tribune reported that a vote on the Fair Tax is now scheduled for next week. Polling shows that 77% of Illinois voters support a Fair Tax. But for us to decide for ourselves in November, the politicians in Springfield need to pass the bill to put the Fair Tax on the ballot.

Out-of-state billionaires have already poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into a smear campaign against a Fair Tax, hoping to keep it off the ballot and taking the decision out of Illinois voters’ hands. They want to protect a broken status quo that levels unfair, regressive taxes that force low and middle income families to pay two to three times the rate that the very wealthy pay in taxes.
X
But in the end, it’s not their choice—it’s ours!

In these closing days, we must emphasize to our elected representatives that, regardless of their personal feelings on the issue, this is our decision to make, and they should not deny us the chance to choose for ourselves on a Fair Tax.
X
I can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done and continue to do on this historic campaign. We’re one final push from celebrating victory next week!
