Summer Day Camp registration is this month! Online registration begins Mon., April 13 for parks WEST of California Ave. and Tues., April 14 for parks EAST of California Ave., at 9 a.m. In person registration begins Sat., April 18 for most parks. Some parks begin Mon., April 20. View program offerings and create a wish list today.The standard 6-week camp runs June 29 through Aug. 7. This April we’re excited to be a part of Parks Build Community—a collaboration between the National Recreation and Park Association, Disney, ABC and ESPN to help revitalize parks across the country including parks right here in Chicago! There are 2 ways that you can help Chicago’s parks receive funding. This month, you can vote for your favorite park in the Park Nomination write-in section for the chance to receive $20,000 AND be sure to continue on and click on Chicago, Illinois to vote for one of three Chicago Park District projects that have been selected as finalists for a $20,000 grant. During Earth Month, April 1 to April 30, you can vote daily for one of these three Chicago Park District parks to receive a $20,000 grant: Art in the Park at DeGeorge Park Playground, Community Roots Demonstration Garden at Skinner Park and Dugout Upgrades at Dawes Park Baseball Field. The park project with the most votes at the end of April will receive the funding. Show your love for Chicago’s parks andvote daily starting today! Help us win this grant for YOU!
Jewel Spring Fun with Food Program

Fun with Food is a FUN hands on nutrition education program designed for Park Kids participants in an after school setting, focusing on incorporating all the wonderful nutrition ideas for snacks that can be included in daily life. The objectives of this curriculum are based on My PLATE and My Pyramid, giving children a structure for eating the appropriate amounts from each food group. This program is available to youth ages 6-12 at 10 locations across the city. Support for Fun with Food is provided by Jewel-Osco.

Spring Flower Shows at the Conservatories

Spring has arrived at the the Spring Flower Shows at Lincoln Park Conservatory and Garfield Park Conservatory! The Lincoln Park Conservatory is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Garfield Park Conservatory is open Wed. 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and every other day of the week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both flower shows are free and run through May 10. Attend and earn 250 Park Points™ for each flower show.

You are GUARANTEED a running bib in this year’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon when you register to join TEAM ChiParks: the Chicago Parks Foundation fundraising team. Your participation includes such perks as guaranteed entry, all race fees covered, free training with CARA (Chicago Area Runners Association), free gear and social events leading up to the run.
Registration for committing a fundraising minimum of $1,000 for the Chicago Parks Foundation closes at noon on the April 21 lottery. After then, the fundraising minimum is $1,500. Join ComEd and the Chicago Park District on Sat., May 9 as we "Switch on Summer" to celebrate the official opening of Buckingham Fountain for the 2015 season. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. with the turning on of the fountain at 6 p.m. For more information, check out our website.

Hey Teens! Spaces are still available for the new Teen Fit Box class. This class promotes overall health by providing hands on nutrition education, individualized coaching, in addition to a positive social outlet to promote building community. The class is FREE courtesy of Coca Cola.

From Shop to Shore: Emerging Woodshop Art Show

In April and May, wood art pieces created by talented staff and patrons from our Chicago Park Districtwoodshops will be showcasing their wood art creations in the From Shop to Shore: Emerging Woodshop Art show. The free show will be held atSouth Shore Cultural Center daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is open to all ages. We hope to see you soon!
