Interactive Tool Helps You Understand Health Care Law’s Effect on Your Taxes
The Interactive Tax Assistant is an online resource that can answer a wide range of tax questions, including newer areas of the tax law, like the Affordable Care Act. It can answer questions such as:
Am I eligible to claim the Premium Tax Credit?
This interview will help you determine if you are eligible for the premium tax credit.
Am I required to make an Individual Shared Responsibility Payment?
This interview will help you determine if you are eligible for an exemption or if you must make a payment with your return for the individual shared responsibility payment.
The Interactive Tax Assistant takes you through a series of questions and provides you with responses to tax law questions. You get the same answers as if you’d called and spoken with an IRS representative on the phone line. You can print out the answers for your records.
The Affordable Care Act interviews are designed for use by taxpayers who were U.S. citizens or resident aliens for the entire tax year for which they are inquiring.
