8th Ward Back to School Parade& Jamboree

8th Ward Alderman Michelle Harris hosts the 24th Annual 8th Ward Back to School Parade & Jamboree. It will take place Saturday, September 12, 2015. Parade will begin at the 8th Ward Office, 8539 S. Cottage Grove Ave. at 10:00 a.m. It will then proceed down 87th Street, and culminate at Jesse Owens Park.
This will be an absolutely amazing event with many community organizations& partners in attendance to enjoy a day of fun! Book bags will be given away for students (while supplies last).

South Side Soul Festival

The Southeast Chicago Chamber, SSA #50, and the Southeast Chicago Development Corporation presents the South Side Side Soul Festival!

The festival is Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm located at 87th & Jeffery Blvd, Chicago, IL.

This event is FREE and open to the public!!

Be on hand for amazing giveaways, great food vendors and all day entertainment.

The entertainment is headlined by Kindred the Family Soul along with local acts including Aniba Hotep & the Soul Collective, Noah the Genius, Erthe St. James, V. Holmes "Tribute to Motwon", and The Javon Watson Experience Band. It's hosted by radio personality Ramonski Luv.

The Chicago Violence Reduction Solution Summit


The Human Capital Experts are proud to bring The Chicago Violence Reduction Solution Summit to Chicago for the first time. The Chicago Violence Reduction Solution Summit will provide proven solutions to reducing violent crime and repeat offending amongst the minority youth population between the ages of 14-17.

The summit will take place at Corliss High School, 821 E 103rd St in Chicago on September 19th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. It will be featuring:

Community Gang Awareness and Education Course I
Join the office of Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez and the Chicago Police Department for Community Gang Education and Awareness Course!
This four-week course is designed to inform you about gang issues in the 6th police district.
The course is on Wednesday evenings in the month of October (7, 14, 21, 28). It will be at Urban Partnership Bank located 7801 S. State, 2nd Floor, Chicago, IL. from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm.
