Work as a member of a crew to install new railroad tracks, maintain existing tracks and right-of-way. Replace or repair track switches with specific components. Slide and align tie plates. Drill holes through rails for insertion of bolts and tighten or loosen bolts at joints that hold ends or rails together.
Correct deviations in track surface, alignment and gauge cut rails to specific lengths etc. Pay Rate Entry Rate $19.36/hour Full Rate $21.52/hour. Promotional/Advancement Opportunities: Under Maintenance of Way Collective Bargaining Agreement, Track Workers may be considered for advancement or promotion to other position within the Engineering Department if qualified.
Machine Operator $23.25 - $24.81/hour, Welder Helper $21.93/hour, Bridge Tender $21.93/hour, Bridge Mechanic $22.65/hour, Foreman $22.71 - $25.53/hour, Track Inspector $23.98 - $25.14/hour.
Qualifications: High School diploma/GED; 18 years of age or older; Valid Driver 's License

The Illinois State Police Merit Board has set the following minimum
requirements for persons applying for an Illinois State Trooper position:
1. An applicant must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. (An
applicant twenty (20) years of age may apply if the Option 4 education
requirement is successfully met.)

Hamm-Goetschel & special guest artists perform World Music
Laura Hamm-Goetschel
received her MM and Certificate in Flute Performance from Northwestern
University and has performed at numerous music festivals and concerts throughout
the world. She most recently returned from a highly acclaimed tour of China with
Trio Chicago and Friends where they performed at the American Embassy,
universities and schools. Mrs. Hamm-Goetschel maintains an active freelance
career performing with the Chicago Sinfonietta, the Joffrey Ballet, the
Chicagoland Pops, the Goodman Theater, the Ravinia Festival, and Elgin Symphony
Orchestras. She is also on the faculty of the Music Institute of Chicago and
teaches privately at her own studio in Evanston.
She actively serves as an
American Cultural Ambassador through the (USA) State Department by touring
internationally as the flutist with Trio Chicago & Friends, an American
ensemble praised for its numerous tours to remote parts of the globe. In the
past nine years she has performed with the group in hundreds of concerts in
Indonesia, Mongolia, Russia Far East, Papua New Guinea, Botswana, Uganda,
Zambia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Jordan,
Turkey, Paraguay and Brazil. They perform American Classical and Jazz music for
thousands of people at various venues including embassies and leading concert
halls. They also teach master classes and workshops at primary and secondary
schools and universities.
Mrs. Hamm-Goetschel is also a Chicago based photographer whose unique visual
style has been appreciated by audiences worldwide. She has experience in
shooting events, live performances, artwork, nature and portraiture of all
types, including pets and boudoir.
Her photos
have been featured in the 2006, 2008, 2009
and 2011 editions of “Century of Life: An Inspirational Date Book”. Her work has also been published internationally in various
journals including the Seikyo Shimbun (Tokyo, Japan), World Tribune
Newspaper and Living Buddhism (Nationwide), Chicago Tribune, Vientiane Times
(Laos), Viet Nam News (Vietnam), Kankakee Daily-Journal (Chicago, IL) and La
Raza (Chicago, IL).
