BREAKING NEWS: Longtime Chatham Resident and Former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris Denied United States Senate Seat
We, at the Chatham Avalon Park Community Council, have learned that Lontime Chatham resident Roland Burris, the appointed junior Senator from Illinois was today denied his seat by the Secretary and Majority Leader of the Senate before the swearing-in ceremony at the opening of the 111th Congress. Mr. Burris has steadfastly held that the appointment is legal and is supported by every law book in the nation. Burris said his belief is that his appointment is constitutional and that "I have no knowledge of where a secretary of state has veto power over a governor carrying out his constitutional duties."
