Rev. Jesse Jackson leads service at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, calls for healing |
NORTH
CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Hundreds filled Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Sunday morning to
hear Reverend Jesse Jackson's lead the service.
After
worship, everyone joined hands and prayed for the victims in the June 17 church
shooting.
Reverend
Jesse Jackson, from Greenville, took the pulpit, calling South Carolina
home.
Rev.
Jackson said the church shooting was the most traumatic thing to happen to our
nation since Martin Luther King's assassination.
But,
he said, through tragedy comes triumph.
"Now,
we need healing," said Rev. Jackson.
He
preached on the need for the Low country to move forward from this
heartache.
"It
takes an awful lot of strength to forgive in the face of assassinations and
murders." said Rev. Jackson. "It is that power of forgiveness that capacity to
forgive and grace takes us to another level."
After
the service at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Reverend Jackson went to Bethel United
Methodist to preach there.
