Join
Friends of the Parks on Tuesday, July 15 for a public forum on Chicago's parks
and public open spaces. Over the past few months, there have been numerous
proposals for buildings to be constructed in our parks, which threaten our
public open spaces.
While
we enthusiastically support the building and expansion of museums, schools and
other institutions in the City of Chicago, the resultant erosion of public open
space is a troubling trend and a slippery slope given the potential loss of the
health, recreation and quality of life benefits associated with parks and public
open spaces.
We
need to work together to protect our parks and public open spaces from the
pressures of development. Chicago lacks sufficient park space and there are
many alternative development sites which would catalyze broader economic
impact.
SPEAK
UP to protect our parks and public open spaces. Join us in proclaiming public
open space is a non-renewable resource and public input is not
optional!
Please
forward this invitation to your friends asking them to SPEAK UP for OPEN
SPACE!
