Michael LaFargue Will Announce His Candidacy for Alderman of the Ninth Ward

On Saturday, July 19th, 3 PM at The West Chesterfield Cultural Center at 9351 S. Michigan Avenue,

Michael LaFargue will announce his candidacy for Alderman of the Ninth Ward. Michael, an engaged

ninth Ward community leader, he has been a resident of the Roseland Community for 20 years and

currently is the President of the West Chesterfield Community Association (WCCA). Michael is

known for his transparent management style and for his inter-community activity. Notably in 2013, he

facilitated the design and distribution of the green and white “Neighborhood Watch” signs for violence

prevention.

Uniquely qualified to serve as the Ninth Ward Alderman, Michael LaFargue is an active member of the

nine Greater Roseland organizations/committees. For example, he is on the Red Line Extension Over-

Site Committee. Michael has his ear to the pulse of the community. His community engagement has

introduced him to many talented and active people in the 9th Ward, from Altgeld to Chesterfield,

ready to collaborate UNIFYING NEIGHBORHOODS to build the Ward North to South, East to

West. When elected to Alderman, he vows to operate in openness, honesty, commitment and

transparency as well as to represent all constituents by working to understand needs (bottom to top)

.

He holds his MBA-MPA from Illinois Institute of Technology and a BS in Business Marketing

from Chicago State University. Professionally he has worked with the RTA, IBM, BEL Real Estate

Appraisal and Consulting and US Equities Realty, LLC as a facilities manager for Chicago Public Schools
