This image depicts a female patient seated in a clinic, who was in the process of having some blood extracted from her left arm's antecubital vein during a phlebotomy procedure. The gloved hands of the female phlebotomist are seen securing the venipunture site: right hand holding the needle tipped catheter; right hand being used to determine the location of the antecubital vein.

Under a magnification of 43,700X, this transmission electron micrograph (TEM) created from a whole preparation of Legionella pneumophila bacteria that had been negatively stained using uranyl acetate, and grown on bacteriologic medium, reveals L. pneumophila organisms reproducing, undergoing the process of cell division, as well as delineating the bacterium's outer envelope.

This dad and his two young children were on their way, as they embarked on a Georgian bicycle trip. Riding behind her father, the daughter was riding her own bike, while the son, seated in a small child-safe bicycle seat, was riding on the same bike as dad. All three were wearing aerodynamic safety helmets, and clothing to protect them from the sun, wind and insects. The only thing missing, was a piece of outerwear, which was very bright in color, allow for a greater degree of rider visibility.

This image depicts a smiling young school girl who was seated in the lunchroom of a metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia primary school taking her daily lunch break during her school day activities. In this particular view, she was holding up a well-cleaned strawberry in her left hand, she was about to enjoy a terrific nutritious ending to her well-balanced meal.

Under a very high magnification of 50,000x, this scanning electron micrograph (SEM) shows a strain of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria taken from a vancomycin intermediate resistant culture (VISA).
