Two teenagers were shot last Wednesday night as they walked in an alley in the Chatham community, according to Chicago police.
The victims, a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman, were shot just before 7 p.m. in the 800 block of East 82nd Street, said Officer John Mirabelli, a police spokesman. The two were walking in an alley at that location when they were attacked, Mirabelli said.
The male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, said Quention Curtis, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.
The woman was taken in good condition to Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago after being wounded in the hand, Curtis said.
The boy's condition was stabilized once he arrived at Christ Medical Center, police said.
At about the same time as the shooting and four or blocks away, Ald. Fredrenna Lyle (6th) and various police officials gathered at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 8441 S. St. Lawrence Ave., to discuss possible solutions in curbing violence in Chatham and other communities in the area.
No one was in custody in the shooting this morning.
