Photo from Brad RedrickF.E.M.A. and the disaster folks have made it crystal clear that in the event of a municipality paralyzing catastrophe/ event, there is no governmental help coming for the first 72 hours. Their pragmatic advice to everyone - be prepared.. or else! This means, at the grass roots level, we'd best have our own plan to stave off panic, chaos and gridlock, which could lead to an even deeper crisis. Conventional wisdom says Chicago is past due for an event of some kind within the next few years.

The Grand Crossing Park Neighborhood Network has spear-headed "DPI 60619", which calls for grass root level preparation of block clubs, churches and businesses in order to avoid all out chaos during an "event". We're making a critical call for adults to bring teens and young adults into this process.

Wednesday November 5th, from 6-8pm there is a basic, ground level disaster preparedness training for block clubs, groups and regular citizens. An entry fee of only $5 gets one some basic training, an emergency kit and a DVD on further preparedness, tips, clues & suggestions. Participants are joining a local, multi-generation team.

You must register for the training, space is limited. Email your requests to us to secure space. There are about 6 spaces left
