Support Red Line Extension

FYI
Get on board! Support Red Line Extension and transit expansion
Extending the Red Line south the 130th street has been talked about for more than a decade. Currently, transit-dependent riders in the area are disconnected from major job centers and forced to spend hours commuting on buses and trains, or spend a large portion of their income to purchase and maintain a car. Many Far South Side communities have been crippled by years of disinvestment and new transit stations would provide a much needed economic development boost.
If you in the South Suburbs or Chicago's Far South Side, fill out the form below to voice your support for projects like the Red Line South Extension and tell your legislators you support transit expansion across Cook County. Check out the Active Trans blog and the Transit Future website for more details about the benefits of the project.

Message Fund Red Line South Extension and rapid transit expansion across Cook County
Dear [Decision Maker],
It's time to invest in our future and establish a dedicated revenue stream to fund transit improvements and expansion in the 2016 county budget. Projects like the Red Line South Extension - which could be funded through a combination of local and federal dollars - would invigorate neighborhoods like mine throughout your district.

Extending the Red Line south the 130th street has been talked about for more than a decade and has strong public and political support. Currently, transit-dependent riders in the area have limited rapid transit access to the rest of the city, especially seniors, low-income families and people with disabilities.

Residents are disconnected from major job centers and forced to spend hours commuting on buses and trains, or spend a large portion of their income to purchase and maintain a car.

I urge you to establish a dedicated revenue stream for transit in the 2016 budget so projects like the Red Line South Extension can become a reality. It's time to start building a transit system that serves the needs of today's riders, reduces the cost of living for working families and strengthens the regional economy for decades to come.
Sincerely,
