Dear
Maryellen,
Nearly every week CUB hears about scam artists posing as utility workers to steal your money—and it’s likely to get worse with warmer weather. Here’s how the scam works:
Con artists knock on your door or phone you, claiming to be from the utility and demanding quick payment of money to avoid a service shut-off. Disgusting, isn’t it? It’s gotten so bad that several utilities recently held a news conference with CUB to warn consumers about the con game.
Please, sign our petition asking state legislative leaders to share this warning and protect consumers from such an awful scam.
Take action now!
