"If any man tells you he loves America, yet hates labor, he is a liar.
If any man tells you he trusts America, yet fears labor, he is a fool."
-- President Abraham Lincoln
Dear Resident,

Today, we celebrate the labor movement in the United States; a movement that grew out of the need to protect the common interest of workers. We can thank those who led the way for better wages, a 40 hour work week, safer working conditions, and child labor stoppages.
Let us take today to remember the men and women who made sacrifices and helped pave the way for making America the best place on Earth to work and live.
Warmest regards,
Elgie R. Sims, Jr.
State Representative - 34th District
2014 Spring Legislative Update

Since the Illinois General Assembly adjourned its Spring Legislative session in May, I have been spending time visiting with neighbors, holding town hall meetings and satellite office hours in an effort to update you on developments in Springfield and to hear your concerns directly.

I am honored to serve you in Springfield, and proud of the work we are doing on behalf of the great citizens of the 34th district and the state of Illinois.

On your behalf, we had an extremely active and productive 2014 legislative session, with a number of my bills passing the General Assembly and being signed into law by the Governor.

Please find information on my legislative measures here.
