Mamie Till-Mobley devoted the last six months of her life to keeping the story of her son, Emmett Till, alive. When Emmett Till was lynched in 1955, his murder galvanized the civil rights movement. In this moment, the continued police & vigilante violence against young Black men has made Tills story more important that ever.
Author and journalist Christopher Benson talks about his work with Till-Mobley on the award-winning, critically acclaimed book, Death of Innocence: The Story of the Hate Crime That Changed America. Benson will be joined in conversation by Chaz Ebert, Executive Producer of the Shatterglass Films production of a movie based on the book. The program will be moderated by Pemon Rami, Director of Education and Public Programs at the DuSable Museum and will feature a special presentation to the Mamie Till-Mobley Memorial Foundation.
