What is the 'Midnight Circus'
A lot of people are asking what is the "Midnight Circus"?
It is also known as "Circus in the Park" and is a long time event with the park district, coming to the southeast side for the first time ever. It is a true "community event" with a large roll for the community to play in order to be a success.
- The community must come out to see the circus.
- The community must raise volunteers to help with many small tasks in order for things to go smoothly.
- The community must help get the word out and "market the event".
By having a successful event the community opens the door to other positive and worthwhile events to occur in the future; the community becomes more qualified by way of having shown itself to be a worthy and competent host. A strong volunteer showing is one of the most important components here. This helps to eliminate costs and make these events more viable. More expense means higher ticket costs and less affordability. Strong volunteer components mean a reliable partnership with the park district which can produce capacity in several areas the Park needs to sustain itself. In the end it adds up big for the community - a "Win-Win" situation.
Also, there is the fundraising aspect of the whole thing. the park will take between one half to one third pf the proceeds to fund worthwhile additions to the park such as a new "Spray Pool" or some other such item. Again, win-win for the stakeholders and the Park District.
Those who can donate tickets to the less fortunate would be doing a great service.
The circus comes this coming August 17th & 18th.
As a community, we need to be ready for success.
