THE 6th
ANNUAL
WOODLAWN
COMMUNITY SUMMIT
One Path, Many Voices
On Saturday, March 28, 2015, join us as we turn information to action.
Residents, business owners, neighborhood leaders and advocates
will converge for one day to share information, explore new ideas,
and take action that will improve the Woodlawn community.
Carving one path to a vibrant community, this summit is the
collection of powerful voices that create positive changes in our
community.
Registration opens at 8:00 am and the Summit begins at 8:15 am
with the Neighbor Networking Breakfast Reception and recognition
of great community initiatives and developments in Woodlawn.
Special Panel Discussion: The Importance of Civic Engagement
What does civic engagement mean and how does it apply to us
individually? What are the opportunities for civic engagement in
Chicago? Why is civic engagement important? How can a collective
effort in civic engagement benefit the community and the entire
city?
Facilitated by
EnGAGED Chicago, this lively dialogue will be moderated by WBEZ’s Kathy Chaney, and will
feature guest panelists
Dr. Carol Adams, Urban Prescriptives; Timuel Black, Historian; Joel Hamernick,
Sunshine Gospel Minsitries;
Sheldon Smith, Dovetail Project; and Kurt Summers, Treasurer, City of Chicago.
After the panel discussion, we invite you to participate in an open forum to share your thoughts and ideas
on ways to get
ENGAGED.
