Executive Director's Note

Dear Maryellen ,

We are excited to share important news with you:

NEW WEBSITE
Our newly redesigned website, www.chicagobungalow.org, has just been launched thanks to the amazing work of Gillian Wiescher, our Deputy Director. The revamped site incorporates our members' requests and feedback. For example, folks asked us for more visual inspiration for their home improvement projects, and this helped guide the website's design. Also with the web redesign, www.chicagobungalow.org is finally mobile-friendly.

We hope you find this both inspirational and practical! Please drop us a line and let us know what you think.

NEW NAME
We have streamlined our name to the "Chicago Bungalow Association." The word "Historic" could be off-putting or misleading. Many times, people thought they were unable to join because their bungalow had been altered inside or out. This is not the case, although we strongly encourage members to retain and restore exterior elements whenever possible. (The only alteration that blocks membership is the addition of a full second story "pop-top" addition.) Not to mention, it was a mouthful!

We serve Chicago homeowners in many types of bungalows and vintage homes. We hope our new name is more reflective of our work, and also moreinclusive. However, Historic Chicago Bungalows will still form the basis for our National Register of Historic Places Districts and for our annual Driehaus Awards as well.

VOLUNTEERING
Are you interested in becoming a Chicago Bungalow Association volunteer? We could use your help staffing events, such as the upcoming Chicago Flower & Garden Show (more on this below) and our Neighborhood Expos (coming in the Fall). If you would like to join us or have questions, please email me at meguest@chicagobungalow.org.

I look forward to seeing you out in our neighborhoods!

Warm regards,

Mary Ellen Guest
