February activities
Here is a general outline of what the Whitney Young Branch has by way of programming for the month of February 2013.
Basic Computer Skills instruction and help provided by TEC Services - Trainers are on site from 10:00am - 2:00pm To assist patrons with everything from keyboarding to setting up emails to putting together presentations! One on one and class room instruction. Some registration required for class instruction.
Also beginning February 4th - April 15th the AARP will again be providing Income Tax Assistance from 10:30am - 2:30pm every Monday and Wednesday. All are welcome but Seniors get first priority!
Adult Book Discussion Group meets the last Saturday of every month from 11:00am - 1:00 pm. For book titles please contact Mr. Berger @ 312-747-0039
On February 5th at 6:00pm in celebration of Black History Month we will present a very special Meet The Author program with The Reverend Dr. Walter Arther McCray author of The Black Presence in the Bible . Join us for a discussion on ancient black and African persons and nations as we view them through the windows of biblical literature, history, geography and culture.
On February 7th at 6:00pm join us as we partner with the Role Model Movement and it's founder, author Jamal Cole, LSC representative for Ruggles school C. Powell, Kyle Kasperek 34th district state rep. candidate and poet, writer Marwan Fateen for Choices: Inclination vs. Obligation a discussion with the Next Generation of Leaders
FOR OUR YOUTH
Starting Wednesday February 6th through February 28th Paving the Way "Know Your Heritage" . A guessing game about Famous African-Americans all are invited to play!
On Wednesday February 13th and 14th join our Valentine Love Bugs Craft Afterschool Family Program from 4:30pm - 5:30pm. Children will create silly love bugs valentine cards and color lady bugs bookmarks. "A Make and Take Craft Program" .
