Chicago Victory

AG, CUB help defeat illegal gas charge, win $2.3 million refund

The battle against an illegal and unnecessary gas charge ended just days ago, with state regulators ordering a $2.3 million refund for Peoples Gas customers.

Getting money back is always good news, but even more significantly, CUB and the Illinois Attorney General’s office worked swiftly to end the bad charge before it could do any more damage. Without this legal battle, the so-called Infrastructure Cost Recovery (ICR) fee could have drained our bank accounts of millions upon millions of dollars for years to come.

Tell your friends about our victory, and please help us win more breaks for your bills.

Hey Chicago! Are you ready to vote on your electric prices?

The Chicago City Council recently voted to put a municipal aggregation referendum on the November ballot. That means the City wants to know if you trust it enough to negotiate power prices on your behalf. So far, municipal aggregation has been winning big savings for communities, but the jury’s still out on whether it will be able to do that past June of 2013.
