Supporter,
Amtrak’s Chicago Gateway Blue Ribbon Panel released their findings on October 1st. For the past year they have been working on ways to address train congestion throughout the Chicago area.
The report highlights 3 pieces of the puzzle to solve this issue. They are breaking new ground by recommending railroad dispatchers be consolidated to improve coordination. The other two pieces include prioritizing the CREATE 75th Street Corridor and Grand Crossing Projects, which are both critical bottlenecks for freight trains.
We appreciate the leadership Amtrak has shown in the effort to relieve congestion throughout Chicago’s railroad network.
If you would like to learn more about the report you can check out some of the great videos on their site here.
