September 11-12, 8:45 am-5:00 pm, Chicago Center for Green Technology, 445 S. Sacramento Ave.
This two-day workshop provides an overview of sustainable design and resources to help you develop healthy and efficient buildings. Don't miss this opportunity to network with other practitioners and tour local projects, including a new multifamily project and an in-process, single family gut rehab. AIA Bridge Program Seeking Applications
Applications Due August 6
Bridge is celebrating five years as a highly successful mentoring program sponsored by AIA Chicago, the College of Fellows and the Young Architects Forum. The program intends to bridge the gap between the need for mentorship in the architecture profession and the ability of experienced architects to pass on what they have learned to the future generation of architects. Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards
Applications Due September 11
The Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards (CNDA), established in 1995, recognize outstanding achievement in community development in five different categories, covering both nonprofits and for-profits in the Chicago area. Applications are now being accepted for the CNDA and for the Richard H. Driehaus Awards for Architectural Excellence in Community Design. The awards ceremony will take place on February 17, 2015.
Graham Foundation Grants to Individuals
Applications Due September 15
The Graham Foundation is accepting applications for grants from individuals who are working to create, develop and communicate about architecture and the designed environment in a way that will contribute to their creative, intellectual and professional growth at transformative stages in their careers. Solar Chicago: Join Now to Save

Solar Chicago is a partnership between the City of Chicago, the Environmental Law and Policy Center (ELPC), Vote Solar and the World Wildlife Fund. Combined Heat & Power Pilot Program
Applications Due November 21
The Illinois Energy Now Program has announced a new program for public entities in the state of Illinois. The Combined Heat and Power Program, or CHP for short, provides cash incentives for CHP projects that increase the efficiency of wastewater plants, community colleges, hospitals, and other buildings in the public sector. CHP is an efficient and clean approach to generating power and thermal energy from a single fuel source. Learn more and apply here.

Monster Truck Food Rally returns to Plant Chicago

The Plant, Chicago's first vertical farm and food business incubator is once again hosting the city's finest food trucks for a great day of Southside fun at its third annual Food Truck Rally. Tickets are now on sale for $5, and will be available for $7 at the door.

Comment Period Open for Amending the Illinois Energy Conservation Code
Proposed amendments accepted from July 1, 2014 - December 1, 2014
The Capital Development Board (CDB), in conjunction with the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, is beginning the update cycle for the Illinois Energy Conservation Code from the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) to the 2015 IECC. CDB is required to seek input from representatives of the building trades, design professionals, construction professionals, code administrators, and other interested entities affected by the new Code. Amendments or comments can be submitted to Lisa Mattingly, lisa.mattingly@illinois.gov.

New Report Shows Growing Demand for Green Homes
USGBC releases LEED in Motion: Residential report
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) now estimates that there are as many as 150,000 LEED-certified green housing units worldwide, a number that more than doubled between 2011 and 2013 and continues to grow steadily, according to their recently released report LEED in Motion: Residential.
CNT Launches Rain Ready
New online resources supported by the City of Chicago
Rain Ready is designed to help individuals, businesses and communities find solutions to the problem of too much or too little water. Developed by the Center for Neighborhood Technology, this online resource provides useful information on handling rain water for homeowners, cities and towns, and regions.
