Dorothy Sutton Branch has been in existence since 1983 and has been housed inside of the Chatham Avalon Church of Christ located at 8601 S. State Street since 1993.  Dorothy Sutton Branch has faithfully served the Chatham community with a superb program that has long since been a pioneer in the Chicago land area.  As you may well know, there has been a great push for excellent Early Childhood Education programming over the past decade as the US recognized the link between ECE and long-term success in education.  Dorothy Sutton Branch was one of the first programs to complete the NAEYC “National Association for the Education of Young Children” certification and has provided a gem of resource for the Southside of Chicago.  Some of Dorothy Sutton Branch’s accomplishments include:

·         Nationally Accredited by NAEYC since 2000

·         3 Star Level Achieved by Illinois Department of Human Services

·         Adopted an on-site WIC and Safe Start program

·         80% of staff employed are current or former parents

·         Consecutively remained in compliance with tri-annual Federal Review

·         Highly Qualified Staff

·         Created a Math and Science Curriculum

·         Mental Health and Nutritional Services provided
