Blog Question: Summer in Chatham

Do you think it would be great to have a city ordinance allowing Hollywood filmmakers to shoot on location with a hefty tax break of 10% to 15% off their city taxes and put in an average of $20 million dollars in location expense outlays and create 200 jobs, especially for our young people to learn the business while having something solid to put on a resume? Wouldn't be great to have a Chatham Art Festival down 79Th Street between Cottage Grove Avenue and King Drive every summer? Leave your comments on the comment line.

It would be nice if the author had an undrstanding of the various branches of government and the roles each play.

The city is giving filmmakers tax breaks but that does not go into the neighborhoods and there is no guarantee that a filmmaker will make a movie in you neighborhood. Lastly, you must bein the unions to get the jobs avaiable in film making.
