It Would be Nice, Too!

We, at the Chatham Avalon Park Community Council, think it would be nice to have a Starbuck's put in the vacant lot at the southwest corner of 79Th Street and St. Lawrence Avenue with a computer cafe' emporium with Internet access and powerful Wi-Fi (like the one in Santa Monica, California) and with a Barnes and Noble bookstore up above on the 2ND floor. We would invite Howard Schulz, Chairman & CEO of Starbuck's and Magic Johnson, CEO of Urban Coffee Opportunities at Starbuck's to pursue this prime spot for a new location in the center of the enclave of Chatham, ASAP!

starbuck's, that would be really nice
dammit, i really don't know why my brain is programmed to associate starbuck coffee, target store and bed bath and beyond shops with classy neighborhoods.
Don't know why my brain is programmed to associate Wal-Mart with saving me money and creating jobs?
that's me, crazy al stirring the pot.

I would like to see local guys at Chatham community .
Baldwin's ice cream
reggios pizza
Richard's ice cream
that's good bean pie
and I really, really think that Chatham community needs a bakery, a good one.
Angelica's bakery , would be a great assets to Chatham's community

Ask the members of Carter Temple why we don't have a Starbucks at 79th State.

This blog goes from bad to worse with uninformed individuals. A multimillion dollar corner and you want to place another chicken joint.

This blog goes from bad to worse you participating, i think this blog is getting better

uninformed individuals. that would be me. stupid, uneducated, good for nothing, welfare collector, and i am showing my underwear, please don't stand at the corner pointing the finger at me.
i need your help and i am here seeking knowledge. so enlighten me. share dammit share.

A multimillion dollar corner and you want to place another chicken joint.
popeyes asks for Net worth of $500,000 ($250,000 liquid) per restaurant .
chicken joint VS coffee stop.
http://www.popeyesfranchising.com/domestic.php.
bottom line for me is, Popeye's "the chicken joint" open shops in African American area because they want to.
starbucks, bed bath and beyond, jewels open shops in African American areas because they have to and to brag about it.
September 5th 2009, what a beautiful day, man this blog is getting better.

You need to get real and get some air. Look around, Popeyes has closed most of their southside stores(i.e. 75th Stony, 75th, lafayette, 35th king, 47th, drexel, etc).

All stores open in this area because it makes money. Mr, uninformed had you done any research you would know all the major retailers (Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc) in this area rank in the top 20% based on sales. Unfortunately they all rank in the bottom 20% based on customer satisfaction.

So I guess I need to say Thank you Mr Copeland for opening a Popeyes in my community and he is going to reward me? Get real

Home depot, 87th and Dan Rayn five minutes away , but i drive all the way to menard's in Dolton looking for better customer service and clean store and i really don't care if home depot is cheaper.

all the major retailers (Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc) in this area rank in the top 20% based on sales. Unfortunately they all rank in the bottom 20% based on customer satisfaction.

that's a beautiful statement sir, so let me see here. they are making a lot more money here but they are treating us bad. come again please, why would i care about A multimillion dollar corner with starbuck's in it. why would i care about home depot or target opening in my neighborhood if they don't treat me right?. if you read my first post in this thread you would notice that i named all local businesses to open at the southwest corner of 79Th Street and St. Lawrence Avenue. guys like reggios pizza and
Richard's ice cream, no target no starbuck's and no popeyes. when these national big box stores stop treating me as a second class citizen i would stop talking trash about them.

This is what the devolper of 87th and cottage grove shopping mall, musa tadros, had to say about target store,
-----Initially, he was snubbed by Target. “We’re working on our A-list right now and, when we work on our B-list, I’ll give you a call,” Tadros said he was told. “Some felt they didn’t want to be in a rough community. ‘That’s a risk. We don’t want to take that chance.’”---

Family dollar store builds different type of stores here on the south side, trashy and under staffed. Kroger is a classy grocery store in other communities, but their store here have a warehouse look and even changed the name to "food for less". you know that guy in home depot's commercial, the one that smiles a lot, greeting you at the door, the one that ask you if you need help, i really need to see him here at 87th and dan rayn's home depot.
i understand that stores like starbuck's and target makes the area looks nice but you do think thats all what we should be looking for? ----- they all rank in the bottom 20% based on customer satisfaction----
happy holiday to you and everyone here at Chatham/Avalon Park Community Council

you have a lot of good information to share, only if you could skip the complements.
every post you insult me ----------Mr, uninformed-----------------you a dunb f---.-----------
every post you insult Chatham/Avalon Park Community Council and this blog--------This blog goes from bad to worse------------It's no wonder no respects CAPCC anymore-----------

sir
if everyone is as informed as you are, we do'nt need blogs like this one. Keith tate and maryallen need to hold no meeting as it will be no need to inform, in fact this internet won't exist. because the internet was found on the idea of sharing information. you know something i don't know and i know something you don't.
i am sorry you feel this is waste of your time ( to spend ten minutes educating guys like me). i wonder why guys like keith tate or Eli Washington do what they do, why hold meeting, print flyers, initiate programs. i wonder if it is waste of their time.

Keith, and members of Chatham/Avalon Park Community Council, i want to apologize to you if i have caused any trouble here, my intention was to energize this blog.

Well this is getting old and tired. First, I'm not arrogant I'm confident and not ashamed to say so.

You wanted to have individuals believe you were being helpful and you were not. Your sarcastic and sterotypical comments were out of place. You mentioned Keith Tate so if you would have had a conversation with him before you made these comments you would have made more informed comments.

Lastly, I don't answer to Keith Tate nor Eli Washington and what they do with their time is up to them. Also, you you infer that officers of CAPCC asked you to make these comments. If they did what I have to say is that they need to tender resignations because this was an insult to the intelligence of residents in this community.

When you are ready to engage in intelligent conversation come over to the 6th ward blog(www.thesixthward.org) or Concerned Citizens of Chatham on Facebook.
