Networking, Marketing, Promoting and Growing Your Business Seminar

Chatham Avalon Park Community Council held a Networking, Marketing, Promoting and Growing Your Business Seminar yesterday at the Northern Trust (Chatham Branch) Auditorium on the 2ND Floor at 78Th and State Street. Various speakers including Julius Washington, Vice President of Northern Trust Bank, spoke of the commitment the bank has to the community in its 13 year presence in Chatham. Dr. Bobby Perez, Melinda Kelley, Executive Director of the Chatham Business Association spoke a length about the market and its potential as long as community dollars remain circulating only with Chatham itself. All hoped the new Obama Administration economic policies and stimulus packages as passed by Congress would do its intented good, reaching Chatham as a priority cash target for growth.

The problem with Chatham is the influx of low income black people from the projects, ghetto, and the streets and other areas (with CHA housing) that hold down the income of local business to develop, grow and modernize.
