Genesis "Reminder" for August & September Events 2016
Hearsay's #PRitForward Grants
Deadline: September 12
These grants are designed to enable 501c3 nonprofits to get off the ground publicity-wise through pro bono public relations counsel. In addition to a PR strategy and access to a group of PR rock stars who will be serving as advisors, winners also may receive social media analysis, community engagement plans, event planning guidance, and more. The #PRitforward grants are designed for U.S. residents who are 15 years or older.
Allen Distinguished Educators DIY Grants
Deadline: September 5
K-12 teachers are encouraged to apply for grants (up to $1,000) to creatively adapt and implement Do-It-Yourself Guides developed by Allen Distinguished Educators. For teachers, by teachers - DIY Guides include project plans, how-to materials, and collaborative opportunities.
Sports Illustrated SportsKid of the Year
Deadline: September 12
The contest is open to all kids between the ages of 7 and 15. Contestants will be judged based on sports accomplishments, academic achievements, and community service. The winner receives: the cover of the December issue of SI Kids magazine, a trip to New York City to become honored at the SI Sportsman of the Year ceremony, and an awesome SKOTY jacket.

9/11 Day Launches Major Initiative to Promote Unity, Empathy for 15th Anniversary of 9/11
An influential national coalition is urging Americans to put aside their differences for the upcoming 15th anniversary of 9/11, and pay tribute to the victims by rekindling the spirit of national unity, service and prayer that arose in the immediate aftermath of the attacks. Activities for 9/11 this year include: a special opportunity for families to win a trip to NYC to visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum; new lesson plans for educators, parents and youth mentors to teach children about empathy and service; and a new 911day.org with volunteer opportunities through All For Good and Volunteer Match.
