12th Annual Driehaus Award Nominations
Nominations are due by November 1st!
This is the last chance to nominate your Chicago bungalow or that of a neighbor or friend for our 12th Annual Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Bungalow Awards.
Created by the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association with the support of the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, the awards honor the creativity and efforts of bungalow owners for the work they've done in the following categories: interior rehabilitation, exterior rehabilitation, interior restoration, green project, small project, and landscape design.
First place winners receive a cash award of $1000 and a handcrafted bronze plaque, created by local artisan, Frank Glapa.
NOMINATION GUIDELINES
  • Project must be of brick Chicago-style bungalows located in the City of Chicago
  • Project must be completed within the last five years
  • Project must include before and after photo(s)
Projects will be judged by a panel of architects, preservation experts and civic leaders.
All nominations are due by Tuesday, November 1, 2016. On-site viewing of the finalists' bungalows will be conducted on Friday, November 11, and Saturday, November 12.
CATEGORIES
INTERIOR RESTORATION
Appropriate restoration of original bungalow features
Maybe you've removed a faux brick wall from a previous remodel to uncover your original art glass windows?
INTERIOR REHABILITATION
Modern re-use of historic space
Perhaps you've expanded your unfinished attic for more living space within HCBA's Design Guidelines?

EXTERIOR REHABILITATION
Sensible rehabilitation
Have you sensibly rehabbed your front porch masonry and tuckpointing to uncover its original beauty?
GREEN PROJECT
Energy-efficient design/renovation
It can be anything from installing a rain barrel to solar panels on your bungalow roof.

SMALL PROJECT
Preservation at a cost of $5,000 or less
Perhaps you've restored your original windows or creatively enhanced paneling with reclaimed wood?
LANDSCAPE DESIGN
Creative design, enhanced visual impression
Maybe you've reused old pavers in your garden, or planted native plants to manage stormwater?
