Thursday: Attend a gun violence prevention planning session in Chicago

   Friend --

Congress hasn't gotten a whole lot done lately -- a government shutdown that could have been avoided didn't
help matters.

Now that the shutdown's over, Americans expect Congress to get back to work solving problems, instead of
creating them. One issue that folks are particularly passionate about is gun violence prevention.

That's why OFA volunteers are holding planning sessions this week to map out our next steps in the effort to
pass gun violence prevention.RSVP right now to join a planning session on Thursday in Chicago.

Here are the details:

What: Gun violence prevention action planning session in Chicago

Where: 2314 W. 95th st

Chicago, IL 60643When: Thursday, October 24th

6:30 pm

It's been almost a year since the tragedy in Newtown. We saw nine in 10 Americans agree on the need for
common-sense legislation to keep our communities safe from gun violence.

Yet, Congress has failed to act. After the Senate failed to stand up to the gun lobby, more than one million
OFA supporters stood up to say we aren't backing down.

At these planning meetings, we'll talk about the best way we can take action at the local level to keep the
pressure on Congress.

If you care about gun violence prevention, I hope you can make it.RSVP now to attend a planning session on
Thursday in Chicago:http://my.barackobama.com/GVP-Action-Planning-Sessions

Thanks,

Kelly

Walmart workers need your support!

Good Afternoon Brothers and Sisters,

Everyday Walmart violates workers rights and intentionally underpays workers.Despite Wal-Mart's propaganda,
we meet Walmart workers every day who are working for less than $9/hour without any paid sick time. We know
walmart can afford to pay their workers a living wage and provide the benefits workers deserve. That's why
we need you to join us in a solidarity action with Clergy to send the message to Walmart and customers that
we all deserve better. Walmart workers are gearing up for Black Friday and need community, faith and labors
support to show their strength. We will be joined by Clergy leaders from the south side in order to call
Walmart to respect workers rights and to ensure that wal-mart knows that the jobs that are brought to the
community need to be good jobs and living wage jobs.

We are mobilizing on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013 with OUR Walmart:

Location: Parking Lot

8300 South Holland Road

Chicago, IL 60620

Time: 4:00pm

If you are interested in talking to walmart workers and supporting worker organizing join us in our adopt a
store training on:
