We, at the Chatham Avalon Park Community Council, think that a way to rid the neighborhood of all the vacant storefronts along 75Th Street and 79Th Street would be pop-up art galleries where artists at a low fee can showcase their artwork.
They do this in some stroefronts on the North Side
And if they can't get art (i.e. fear someoen might break the window & steal it), at the very least some flyers & positive posters (such the the KnowHow2Go (to college) Campaign
I will try to post this up on the the sixthward (but for some time next week..we have some more timely stuff that NEEDS to be up now...)
Now this is a great idea to get behind. Perhaps build an art colony for aspiring black artists.
ReplyDeleteLandlords could allow an artist to stage for free or charge a small rent up to $150 per month to artists to show their work.
